About the Dallas County District Courts

The Dallas County District Courts are trial courts of general jurisdiction in Dallas County, the second-most populous county in Texas and the ninth-most populous in the United States. These courts serve approximately 2.6 million people, living and working in the county’s 990 square miles. The Dallas County District Courts have concurrent jurisdiction with the Dallas County Courts at Law.

To serve its population, the District Courts in Dallas County specialize in civil, criminal, juvenile, and family law matters. There are 13 Civil District Courts, 21 Criminal District Courts, 7 Family District Courts, and 2 Juvenile District Courts. Each District Court has a Presiding Judge, who is assisted by Associate Judges and Visiting Judges.

The Dallas County Civil District Courts

The Civil District Courts specialize in handling civil matters, such as legal disputes between two or more parties. The 13 Dallas County Civil District Courts are the 14th, 44th, 68th, 95th, 101st, 116th, 134th, 160th, 162nd, 191st, 192nd, 193rd, and 298th District Courts.

The Presiding Judge of the 160th Civil District Court is the Hon. Aiesha Redmond. This Court is located at the George Allen Courts Building on the 6th Floor of the East Tower. You can reach the 160th District Court by calling (214) 653-7271.

The Presiding Judge of the Civil Tax Court is the Hon. Carl Ginsberg. The Civil Tax Court is located at the George Allen Courts Building, and can be reached by calling (214) 653-6010.

The Dallas County Criminal District Courts

The Criminal District Courts of Dallas County handle criminal matters, such as felonies and misdemeanors. The 21 Criminal District Courts in Dallas County include the 194th, 195th, 203rd, 204th, 265th, 282nd, 283rd, 291st, 292nd, and 363rd District Courts. The remaining courts are Criminal District Courts Nos. 1 to 7, and Auxiliary Courts 1, 6, 6b, and 8. All of the Criminal District Courts are located at the Frank Crowley Courts Building, 133 N. Riverfront Blvd., LB 26, Dallas, TX 75207.

The Dallas County Family District Courts

The Family District Courts of the Dallas County District Courts specializes in handling family law matters, such as child custody and visitation issues. There seven Family District Courts in Dallas County are the 254th, 255th, 256th, 301st, 302nd, 303rd, and 330th Family District Courts.

The Presiding Judge of the 330th Family District Court is the Hon. Andrea Plumlee. This District Court is located at the George Allen Courts Building in Suite 320. You can reach by calling (214) 653-7207.

The Dallas County Juvenile District Courts

The Juvenile District Courts address matters of juvenile delinquency and juvenile dependency. There are two Juvenile District Courts in Dallas County: the 304th Juvenile District Court and the 305th Juvenile District Court. Both courts are located at the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center, 2600 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, TX 75212.
