Now, we are reviewing the top plaintiff attorneys and law firms and the top defense attorneys and law firms in the area of insurance litigation for 2019.
Top Plaintiff Attorney Analytics*
The top plaintiff attorney in the area of insurance litigation for 2019 is Anthony G. (“Tony”) Buzbee of the Texas-based Buzbee Law Firm. In the 2013 edition of Benchmark Litigation, Mr. Buzbee was dubbed a litigation star and his firm was named one of five “highly recommended” plaintiffs’ firms. The New York Times has similarly labeled him “one of the most successful trial lawyers in the country.” Among his client roster is famed recording artist Jimmy Buffet.
After college, Mr. Buzbee served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was widely commended for his outstanding service and was awarded a prestigious Navy Commendation Medal. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and a member of the Order of the Coif, Order of Barristers, and Order of the Barons. He is an adjunct professor at his law school alma mater, a frequent guest lecturer, and an instructor of various CLEs on litigation related topics.
Tied with Mr. Buzbee for recognition as the top insurance litigation plaintiff attorney is Richard D. Daley of Daley & Black, P.C. A trial attorney for more than 20 years, Mr. Daley is licensed to practice in both Texas and Kentucky. Before starting his eponymous firm, Mr. Daley worked for both a large plaintiff firm and a widely-respected defense firm. Mr. Daley is a graduate of UCLA and the University of Illinois Law School. In between his undergraduate and law school years, he played tight-end for the Denver Broncos.
In addition to Mr. Buzbee and Mr. Daly, we recognize top plaintiff attorneys Chad Troy Wilson, Jonathan Shawn Sar, and Sean Bradley Leventhal. Attorneys Sar and Leventhal appeared as partners on all insurance litigation cases included in this review.
