UniCourt automates the process of tracking cases across federal (PACER) and state courts, so you can get the case updates you need with our real-time case alerts, automated court searches, and our Court Data API.
What is case tracking?
You can use UniCourt’s case tracking feature to get real-time notifications when new dockets updates occur and court documents become available.
When will I start receiving case alerts?
You will receive new case update notifications based on the frequency you choose to track a particular case. With our standard tracking options you can receive case alerts on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
What if I want to receive tracking updates on a custom frequency of my choice?
You can develop your own tracking schedule tailored to your specific needs. For example, if you’re watching an active case and want to know as soon as new filings or documents are available, you can set up a tracking schedule to look for updates every hour or even every couple minutes to ensure you have the latest information available.
Is there a limit to the number of cases I can track at one time?
You can track as many cases as your subscription plan allows. Premium Plan users can track up to 50 court cases at any given time. If you are a high-volume user that needs more than 50 cases, Contact Sales to learn more about our Enterprise Plans.
How do I receive alerts for a case?
You will receive alerts for new case updates sent directly to your inbox via email notifications. You can also take advantage of UniCourt’s Court Data API to have alerts for new case filings sent in real-time to your matter management systems, CRM, and other internal applications.
How can I auto-download court documents?
You can activate UniCourt’s time-saving automatic court document download feature by turning on case tracking for the case you want to have documents auto-downloaded for, and then clicking the “Auto Download Document” box that appears after you’ve started tracking your case.
Can I use automated court searches to manage alerts for my clients?
You can use UniCourt’s automated court searches to be the first to know when your clients are involved in litigation, and to create custom alerts for when important docket events occur in cases that might trigger new business development opportunities.
How do I create an automated court search?
You can easily create a tailored automated court search by entering the entities or keywords you want to search, run your search in UniCourt, filter by the jurisdiction, case type, filing date, and other relevant criteria, save your search, and then schedule the days of the week you want it to run and return new case filings.
What if I want to create an automated court search that looks for new case filings or certain case milestones for thousands of my clients?
You can create custom automated court searches for thousands of your clients with UniCourt’s Enterprise Plans by simply providing us with a file containing the names of the entities you want to include in your automated court search. Contact Sales to learn more about our Enterprise Plans.
How can I use UniCourt’s webhooks?
You can use UniCourt’s webhooks to get real-time push notifications of new case updates sent directly to your internal applications to power your case tracking needs, and you can also use our webhooks to get systematic court data feeds when new case results appear for your automated court searches.
