About the Tarrant County Justice Courts

The Tarrant County Justice Courts, or alternatively the Tarrant County Justice of the Peace Courts, have jurisdiction over a population of approximately 2.1 million residents living and working in the county’s 902 square miles. This makes it the third most populous county in Texas.

The Tarrant County Court system states, “Our mission is to work collaboratively with our external and internal stakeholders to improve the satisfaction of the residents and businesses of Tarrant County through the effective and efficient provision of services.”

There are eight Justice Courts, or Justice of the Peace Courts, in Tarrant County. The Justice Court is commonly known as the “People’s Court.” The Justice Court is a trial court for both civil cases, with a jurisdictional limit of $20,000, and many different types of misdemeanor criminal cases. Each Justice of the Peace Court Judge also serves as an Administrative Hearing Judge. Each Judge is elected to a four-year term by the voters in that precinct.

The Tarrant County Justice Courts operate out of the following nine locations. Precinct 1 is located at the 1895 Courthouse, 100 W Weatherford Street, Room 450, Fort Worth, TX 76196, which can be reached by calling (817) 884-1395. Precinct 2 is located at the Southeast Subcourthouse, 700 East Abram Street, Suite 200, Arlington, TX 76010, which can be reached by calling (817) 548-3925. Precinct 3 can be found at both the Northeast Courthouse, 645 Grapevine Highway, Suite 220, Hurst, TX 76054, which can be reached by calling (817) 581-3625, and the Southlake Town Hall, 1400 Main Street, Suite 220, Southlake, TX 76092, which can be reached by calling (682) 732-6589.

Precinct 4 is located at the Northwest Subcourthouse, 6713 Telephone Road, Suite 201, Lake Worth, TX 76135, which can be reached by calling (817) 238-4425. Precinct 5 is located at the Fort Worth Police Administration Building, 350 W. Belknap, Room 112-C, Fort Worth, TX 76196, which can be reached by calling (817) 884-1438. Precinct 6 operates out of the Southwest Subcourthouse, 6551 Granbury Road, Fort Worth, TX 76133, which can be reached by calling (817) 370-4525.

Precinct 7 is located at the Mansfield Subcourthouse, 1100 E. Broad Street, Suite 202, Mansfield, TX 76063, which can be reached by calling (817) 473-5101. Precinct 8 can be found at the Poly Subcourthouse, 3500 Miller Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76119, which can be reached by calling (817) 531-5625.
