Though Legal Data APIs have been around for years, the legal industry, as opposed to finance, insurance, and investigations industries, is finally beginning to play catch up to leverage the goldmine of data APIs can unlock for legal professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Law Librarians and Legal Data APIs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/unicourt.com\/blog\/qa-with-jean-ogrady\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jean O\u2019Grady<\/a>, legal information giant and Editor and blogger for the website Dewey B Strategic, \u201cEven before COVID-19 accelerated the death of the print library, law librarians had begun developing portals using APIs to deliver widgets, single purpose solutions for pulling data.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Jean\u2019s recent article on Legaltech Hub, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.legaltechnologyhub.com\/contents\/if-data-is-the-new-gold-then-law-libraries-are-a-goldmine-panning-for-gold-with-apis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">If Data is the New Gold, then Law Libraries are a Goldmine: Panning for Gold with APIs<\/a>,\u201d she shares that as she\u2019s been tracking the legal data market, she\u2019s observed that \u201ca new generation of API tools and market forces have driven APIs into the spotlight.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With APIs taking over the limelight, Jean highlighted a number of reasons she sees KM professionals and law librarians as mission critical to maximizing the value of APIs.
