We\u2019re thrilled to share that UniCourt\u2019s CEO and Co-Founder, Josh Blandi was recognized as a 2020 Fastcase 50 honoree<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Started by Fastcase and their CEO, Ed Walters in 2011, the Fastcase 50 is awarded to a diverse group of lawyers, legal technologists, policymakers, judges, law librarians, bar association executives, and others who represent the law\u2019s smartest, most courageous innovators, techies, visionaries, and leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Ed Walters noted, \u201cEvery part of the legal market is changing right now \u2013 from law school through every part of the practice.\u201d While enormous transformation is happening throughout the legal industry, from notable advances in legal technology, to significant improvements in access to legal data, and ethics restrictions being challenged and changed to improve access to justice, we\u2019re incredibly proud to have Josh nominated and honored as a Fastcase 50 honoree in 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to honoring Josh, Fastcase also wrote a wonderful bio for him that touches on his uncanny ability to bring unity around the cause of improving access to public data and what it means for the legal tech industry:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJosh Blandi is a uniter. He knows the importance of legal data<\/a>, and has been a leader in collecting and disseminating quality data from various corners of the U.S. legal market. Josh is the founder of the PACER Collective, a tight-knit group of legal data companies (including Fastcase and a number of Fastcase 50 honorees) that equally contribute and share in the collection of certain Federal court records<\/a>. By bringing disparate (and sometimes competing) companies together towards a common goal of greater data quality, Josh has charted a path for improving data in the legal technology industry. As CEO and Co-founder of UniCourt, Josh provides court data for a variety of business and legal organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also want to highlight another great Fastcase 50 honoree from this year\u2019s cohort, Vasu Kappettu, COO and CTO of Justia. Vasu has done amazing work to improve the public\u2019s access to the law across a wide spectrum of government records, and has been an excellent partner through Justia in making the PACER Collective a possibility<\/a>. \u201cFor two decades, Vasu Kappettu has been providing free and public access to the law. She is a founding member of Justia and leads the technology development as well as the innovation efforts for Justia’s portal and client services products. Vasu does not seek the spotlight, but she has made integral contributions to Justia’s goal of providing free access to the law. She has led major initiatives such as: case law, codes, regulation, dockets, and government documents projects – all resources that are made readily available via the internet to the public. Vasu has helped lead projects for Oyez.org, a Supreme Court focused non-profit, and she is an influential advisor to publishers such as Fastcase, Cornell’s Legal Information Institute, and many other legal technology companies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
